Deli Assistant

Job Summary

We are seeking a friendly and dependable Deli Assistant to join our team in Albany, NY. As a Deli Assistant, you’ll help with food preparation, slicing meats and cheeses, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring a positive experience for every customer.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing and packaging deli items, including meats, cheeses, salads, and hot foods
• Provide prompt, courteous service to customers; take orders and make product recommendations
• Operate deli slicers, scales, ovens, and other kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
• Maintain a clean and sanitary work area, following health and safety standards
• Stock and rotate deli cases and ensure products are accurately labeled and displayed
• Assist with inventory, restocking supplies, and receiving product deliveries
• Work as part of a team to ensure the deli department runs smoothly and efficiently
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and store procedures

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Prior experience in a deli, food service, or grocery setting is a plus, but not required (on-the-job training provided)
• Basic knowledge of food handling and safety practices (ServSafe certification a must)
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods
• Availability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly Rate: $15.75 – $18.00/hour based on experience
