Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and hospitality-driven Catering Director to lead and grow our catering operations in Albany, NY. The Catering Director will oversee all aspects of catering sales, event planning, client relations, staffing, and execution, ensuring high-quality service and profitability. This leadership role requires a balance of operational excellence, creative vision, and strong relationship-building skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all catering operations from client acquisition through post-event follow-up
  • Oversee a team of sales managers, event planners, and service staff to ensure smooth, professional execution of all events
  • Drive sales through networking, relationship-building, and responding to RFPs and inquiries
  • Develop and implement catering strategies to meet revenue goals and expand market share
  • Collaborate with chefs to design custom menus tailored to client needs and event types
  • Prepare budgets, proposals, contracts, and detailed event plans
  • Ensure exceptional customer service and guest satisfaction at every stage of the event process
  • Manage inventory, rentals, vendor relationships, and cost controls
  • Maintain full compliance with food safety, health regulations, and company policies
  • Stay informed on industry trends and recommend innovations in service, food offerings, and event experiences

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or a related field preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in catering management or event planning, with 2+ years in a senior leadership role
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale events, corporate functions, and private clients
  • Strong leadership, sales, budgeting, and team management skills
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and client service abilities
  • Proficiency in catering software (e.g., Caterease, Tripleseat, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • ServSafe Certification or equivalent food safety knowledge is preferred

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $70,000 – $90,000/year (commensurate with experience)
